Description

Observations of dispersal from plantations of two alien conifer species, Picea sitchensis and Larix sibirica, as well as Picea abies outside its' natural range, to natural habitats as part of the project "Kartlegging av kortdistansespredning av fremmede bartrær".

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,426 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Project Data

The aim of this project was to map dispersal of alien conifer species, as well as Picea abies outside its Natural range, from plantations.

Title Kartlegging av kortdistansespredning av fremmede bartrær
Funding Miljødirektoratet
Study Area Description Dispersal of conifers were mapped around 14 plantations on Helgelandskysten, Nordland.

Sampling Methods

All individuals of Picea sitchensis, Larix sibirica and Picea abies found outside plantations were mapped in a 500 x 500 m square with the mother plantation in the center. Other alien species were recorded when encountered.

Study Extent The study included 14 plantations from the following counties: Alstahaug, Brønnøy, Dønna, Leirfjord, Nesna, Vefsn and Vevelstad. Each site was visited for one day.

Method step description:

  1. 1. Locate appropriate study plantations 2. Outline a 500 x 500 m square around each plantation 3. Systematically map all individuals of the selected species within this square, not including individuals found within the plantation
