Description

This dataset describes the monitoring of restoration of six dry calcareous grassland sites.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 437 records.

2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Project Data

The project covers monitoring for several species and one habitat and is a R&D-project financed by the Norwegian Environment Agency.

Title Monitoring of effects of conservation actions on threatened species and habitats
Funding The monitoring of restoration of dry calcareous grasslands was funded by the Norwegian Environment Agency in 2022 and 2023.
Study Area Description Six localities with dry calcareous grassland.
Design Description Recording of vegetation composition and structure in permanently marked plots of 0.5 x 0.5 m, and in circles with 5 m radius around plots, before and after restoration.

Sampling Methods

A set of permanent plots (0.5 x 0.5 m2) were systematically established along transects 10 m apart at each locality before restoration. All vascular plants were recorded with % cover. Structure variables (field layer cover, bottom layer cover, exposed rock and soil) were recorded in the plots as % cover. A circle of 5 m radius was established around each plot, and structure variables (cover of woody plants in the field layer, shrub layer and tree layer, cover of invasive vascular plants) as well as threat variables (erosion, vehicle tracks, human objects) were recorded as % cover. At the first revisit, only variables in the circle were recorded, including the restoration actions carried out.

Study Extent Six localities in the inner Oslofjord. The current dataset includes baseline survey before restoration, and various numbers of revisits after restoration.
