Description
Historical data from ‘Det Norske Myrselskap’ collected as part of the inventory program of potential peatlands for development and use in the time period 1930-1980. The original paper versions of the report are stored by NIBIO. The original dataset includes data from basic soil parameters and site description. Additionally, the dataset contains georeferenced polygons extracted from the original data under the project "Roadmap for generating soil map for Norwegian pristine mires".
Data Records
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 565 records.
1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data
The project ‘Roadmap for generating soil map for Norwegian pristine mires’ was conducted as a sub-project under ‘Indikatorer for økologisk tilstand i våtmark, semi-naturlig mark og naturlig åpne områder under skoggrensa”. One of the scopes of the project was to digitalize, georeference and openly publish the data collected by ‘Det Norske Myrselskap’ as part of the inventory program of potential peatlands for development and use in the time period 1930-1980. The dataset includes information on basic soil parameters from mires across Norway.

Sampling Methods
The data were collected from different mires classified to following categories: A. Dyrkingsverdet (d) 1 = meget gode dyrkingsmyrer 2 = gode dyrkningsmyrer 3 = noenlunde gode dyrkingsmyrer 4 = mindre gode dyrkingsmyrer 5 = dårlige dyrkningsmyrer B. Mire type lm = lyngrik mosemyr mm = mosemyr gm = gressrik mosemyr g = gressmyr l = lyngmyr bm = bjørkeskogmyr km = krattmyr Following main parameters were measured and reported based on methods detailed in Hovde 1971: · Peat depth · Ash % · N % · CaO
