Description

Species list of vascular plants, lichens and wood-living fungi recorded in 100 x 100 m plots in the project "TransForest".

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,824 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Project Data

The aim of TransForest Work Package 1 is to experimentally assess the effect of restoration cutting on biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Title TransForest
Funding The Norwegian Research Council
Study Area Description Vascular plants, lichens and wood-living fungi were recorded in 14 sites in mixed forest in Telemark, Vestfold, Akershus and Østfold counties.
Design Description Each site consists of two 100 x 100 m plots, one control and one treatment (coppice) plot.

The personnel involved in the project:

Björn Nordén
  • Principal Investigator
Siri Lie Olsen

Sampling Methods

Within each plot vascular plants were recorded in four 1 x 1 m subplots. Each subplot was subdivided into 25 sub-subplots, in which the presence of all vascular plants were recorded. Lichens were collected from eight ash (Fraxinus excelsior) trees per plot. Wood-living fungi were collected from dead wood along four 4 x 25 m transects per plot. The data set contains a species list of all species recorded in each plot. Some additional rare, red-listed or black-listed species are also included, as they are of special interest to the management.

Study Extent Data was collected during the summer 2016 in the 14 TransForest sites.
